John Proctor a farmer in Salem, Proctor serves as the voice of reason and justice in the crucible. John was a very proud man, who was considered a leader by many of the people in the village. John Proctor, the protagonist of the play The Crucible, possesses a major flaw, suffers a loss, and eventually comes to a realization, therefore making him an ideal of a tragic hero.
