Essay On John Constable's 'Haywain'

Decent Essays
Haywain by John Constable Is a painting filled with stillness and balance. The atmospheric perspective gives it a dark natural look, you can feel the presence of the intensity it carries. The picture itself is filled with mystery and depth since the trees and the dark shades interrupt that.I think that the clouds can define circular design since there's a vast area of them on the top of the picture. There's a certain emphasis towards the pond and the person next to it. I notice alot of primary colors like blues greens. I also notice light and darkness which is considered contrast. To me the painting looks very realistic and almost visually real. I feel the artist used soft tones to give it a realistic approach. This painting is asymmetrical

Normally, a painted desert scene and a horse sculpture don’t have very many things in common, if at all. In Passover, Dennis Blagg has created a stunning and realistic painting. In contrast, Hina, sculpted by Deborah Butterfield is an extraordinary sculpture of a resting horse. While the pieces are different art forms, they both convey the beauty of organic forms in nature. Dennis Blagg is an extremely talented artist in the Southwest area, particularly the Big Bend National Park region of West Texas.…

1.Who was Johann Winckelmann, and what was his importance in the history of art? Johann Winckelmann was a German scholar who believed classical art triumphed over “natural” art that was popular in his time (Kleiner 784). He published works like History of Ancient Art (1764) which details different classical art works. However, the thing that set this piece apart from those before him is the fact that he organized less by biography and more by subject, style, and period (Kleiner 784) .…

Actor Anson Mount said, “I think all of us have a hero and villain in us.” This quote comes to mind when reading Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, and The Miller’s Tale. Sir Gawain is a noble knight with high morals and very spiritual. He is flawed, like a villain would be, but still maintains his noble and heroeic qualities. The Miller’s Tale on the other hand has no hero.…

Is it conceivable that nature is the ultimate component that dominates all other forces or principles in the world? From the starting point of the poem, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, the Green Knight had expressed all essential features of nature. Nature and civilization are the two central ideas that kept being brought to the table. These two elements were in a constant battle to see which one compels a person to make crucial decisions that one might encounter on their journey in life. As Gawain is confronted with the imposing demands of nature, both internal and external by the structure of the Green Knight along with the moral rights of civilization by Bertilak; it becomes clear that nature dominates the morality of civilization…

In the text “Sir Gawain and the Green Knight” the tale can be seen as a heroic one. Sir Gawain is the brother of both Sir Gaheris and Sir Gareth, and also the nephew of King Arthur which already gives him the qualities of a character in a royal family. In the poem “Sir Gawain and the Green Knight”, Sir Gawain is described as “the most courteous” (line 639) and “the good knight” (line 109). These characteristics are seen as characteristics of a hero and the tale shows how the hero, Sir Gawain, overcomes some of the difficult tasks throughout the poem.…

    I. Introduction After Parliament failed to grant him Tonnage and Poundage for life, King Charles I of England imposed a levy first against coastal counties, then later against inland counties in order to provide England with warships. This is a canvas painting of a pond. The painting comes off realistic in the actual water, but around the side it looks almost fuzzy. There is lots of detail in the painting, though it's also simple. There is simplicity in the color scheme, it is mostly greens, browns, and there is some purple in there. Even though the color scheme is fairly simple, and almost dull, it still shows lots of details and looks very realistic.…

Although the shapes in the middle ground and background appear to be balanced, the colors are asymmetrical. The left side of the painting uses a lot of naturalistic colors with the brown building and the pale blue sky. The right side of the painting uses more contrasting colors. The sky, the demon, and the rocky plain are colored in using dark brown, dark red, dark blue, and black. This contrasts with the area below the demon, which is hell, that colored in with intense yellow and red.…
