Essay On Japanese Atomic Bombing

Despite of these evil deeds of the Japanese, it cannot be denied that Japan too has suffered from the fire bombings and the atomic bombings. Over the period of the bombings, thousands and thousands of Japanese civilians were killed or severely injured. This damage to the people was a result of United States abandoning the "last rules of warfare against civilians" (McNeill 1). The aftermath of the bombings were severely brutal. Around seventy of the Japanese cities were destroyed and around million civilians were killed (McNeill 2). As General Lemay describes, the American soldiers would have been filed as war criminals if the United States had lost the war (McNeill 2). In fact, the bombings of the cities was the "largest mass killing of World War II" (McNeill 1). People lost their homes, families, and their loved ones. Many of them suffered from the horrendous memories of witnessing blood-shed and deaths. Fortunately however, not all Japanese individuals are "reluctant to face their wartime past" (Jenninson and Hein 1). There are several individuals who wish to reconcile with the Asians and understand their country's dishonorable past (Jenninson and Hein 1). These people do not deny of their responsibility of the need to apologize to those victims and truthfully desires reconciling. Some of these people include artists, film makers, and writers (Jenninson and Hein 1). These people attempt to portray the "isolated fragments of the past" and introduce these pieces of work to the public (Jenninson and Hein 1). Unfortunately, the critical weakness of these artworks is that they are not well-known to the people and are not so popular. Most of the citizens are not even aware of such things
