I first interviewed my grandmother, Throng Sytha, she is 94 years old and still strong. I admire her for being strong and healthy. I interviewed her and she had so much to remember! She had to get out of Cambodia before the war gets worse. She needed to have a better life. Her children had live a better life in American than they would have in Cambodia. Family always came first for her. She did not know who her grandparents were from both her parents. Her parents are not in her children’s lives. They did not live long enough to see her have children. Her eldest brother died due from sickness. She had an older sister who treated her as if she was her own daughter. My grandmother went through so much back when she was young, and the traditions made her who she is today. She is hardworking and dedicates her time to family.
