Essay On Informative Briefing

As I approached the informative briefing assignment, I didn’t really know what exactly to expect. I had never really had to make a speech in class before, so this was an entirely new experience. Despite my lack of training and experience, I feel like I did pretty well my first official public speech. I was very nervous before I began, but when I watch the speech, I don’t seem nervous at all. My speech was very informative and contained lots of research, which proved I put it in the work and time necessary. I also had good organization of my topic with three categories and two subcategories. Overall, my visual aid on Prezi was definitely time well spent, because it looked good and kept the audience’s attention.
However, I wish I had someone who pointed to what I was saying on my Prezi, because it took away attention from me and made the audience have to search for content on the Prezi. I also wish I practiced my speech a little bit more, because the audience could tell I winged it through my use of “um”s, like at (3:58), use of “like” every ten seconds and awkward transitions between topics. My biggest flaws I would fix are the introduction and the conclusion. The notes emphasized how important it is to grab an audience’s

One being making eye contact with more than just the back of the room. An important part I hope to change is grabbing the audience’s attention. If I start out boring, the rest of the speech is going to be equally boring. I also hope to improve on simple public speaking aspects, like posture and the use of unnecessary transition words that just fill a void, like “um” and “like”. I’ll be sure to perform my speech more beforehand, so I can transition from topics better and know when it’s appropriate to do gestures. I’m glad I get to watch myself perform and realize what I can improve upon for the next speech. I will feel way more prepared next time

After watching my speech on video I recognized several things that beforehand I believed I had done well, and upon watching the speech, did do very well. Firstly was my organization, but mainly my introduction and main points. Both of these had all aspects covered and were easy to notice during the speech. Secondly I thought I did very well with my volume, rate, and vocal variety. These verbal delivery attributes came off very well in my speech and I was very happy to see that I could still execute these aspects.…

The informative speech was easier for me because it was researching on a simple country singer. This speech I last did was my informative speech and I felt much more prepare with this speech because I have everything done on time, I had my outline ready, notecards ready and to be able to read, my power point was good and I felt a little more confident. In class when we picked times when we were going to, Mr. Stauffer took volunteers to go first and so after that we drew out of the bucker, and I was ready but I just feel I wanted to go last but I was the 23rd person to go. The emotions I felt are nervous, scared, but ready because I knew I had to go.…

The results of my PRCA-24 were a little surprising but in a good way. I got an 84 which was much higher than I thought it was going to be which I guess reflects on the fact that maybe I don 't give myself as much credit as I should when thinking about my public speaking ability. One of the things the test made me realize is that i’m more nervous in regular life than I am nervous when public speaking, because I thought about the questions if they referred to the circumstances of everyday life. I guess that’s the benefit and downside to being a performer. Watching the video was a little bit strange for me because I’m always perceiving myself differently when I’m up there, which is partly a perspective switch but also sometimes it’s also focusing…

For my informative speech, I talked about softball. I discussed the importance of gloves, finding the right bat, and the three important things when it comes to swinging the bat. I feel like my speech went pretty well. It could have been better due to the fact that when I presented I had not practiced my speech at all. I had just written out my speech on my notecards that morning before school.…

In reflection to my second speech in public speaking, I believe it turned out better this time than the last. When I got up in front of the class, I was a little shaken up. While delivering this speech I felt okay, but I guess that was based on my mood not the actual speech. The strength of my speech was the first body paragraph, because it demonstrates how hard my dad work for the family. Which also make the audience understand why he is qualified for the award. When I glance at the time today, I’ve noticed I already spoke for four minutes. Thank god, I checked otherwise I probably would have went over the time limit.…

After noticing the speaker’s confidence during the speech, it became clear that his calmness and ability to speak clearly, his ability to refer to his notes and to use the power point at the same time and also his ability to ensure he was the source of the information he was giving made his delivery good. This informative speech could have been improved with more body movement during the transitions and a good eye contact with the…

Nevertheless, I knew that I would achieve some form of catharsis if I took this assignment as seriously as a possibly could. From watching the persuasive speech, it is a recurring theme in my process of watching myself speak that I am much more sympathetic of myself after given said speech. What I immediately notice is that certain planned maneuvers such as the introduction weren’t always as clear as I wanted them to be. The flash cards that I help up might have been more effective if I had less content on them.…

Throughout the course, I learned different aspects of project management, and skills that can be used in the everyday life as long as involve interacting with other people. In this class I learned about how to be a better team member. This semester I was reminded of how important communication is and how people need to keep emphasizing it as one of the most important skills any person could possesses. The personality test was useful, I think it gave all of us a good way to start to see how everyone is different. It made it easier for each of us to better understand one another in how our unique personalities can be a challenge when working with others.…

I sometimes get nervous about what people are thinking about my speech when I am giving it but if I don’t judge people from the audience then I will have the mindset when I am on stage that people from the audience are not judging me. Lastly, I think that I will be able to get up in front of people and give a speech without getting extremely nervous. I haven’t had much experience with speaking in front of big groups but hopefully by the end of this semester I will be very good at it without having any nervous feelings if someone asked me to give a public…
