It goes without saying that there are various positive influences of social media on students. Indeed, Vietnamese youngsters in general and Dalat University students in particular have taken the lead in the process of using and developing social media. In fact, this phenomenon reflects Vietnamese youth’s passion to open their mind and heart for international values.
Notably, it can be seen that 100% of respondents claimed that social media did affect them and 92.5% of which thought that social media affected their studies, lifestyle, relationships, and daily communication. Mobile technology and the bevy of social portals allow students to connect with those whom they might not ever physically engage in conversation. These virtual connections often blossom into face-to-face connections. Using the organizational tools of social networking and the myACU app, these relationships often develop into gatherings for meals, study sessions, and group discussions. Even the ubiquity of new media is not a complete proxy for actual physical gathering and contact.
The reception of social media takes place every day. Students can now easily find out information related to school course, extracurricular activities, classmates or teachers online. The fact that there are some social media sites that sell personal information of users. These sites also creates more opportunities for hackers and viruses. As a result, certain solutions from social media’s sponsor and CEO are being put forward.
4.3. The opinions of Dalat University students towards the using of social media
Incontrovertibly, through this research, we can see that Dalat University students hold positive and responsible attitudes towards the using of social media. First and foremost, they honor the definitive agreements on the fact that social media actively assists them and Vietnamese young generation in broadening their horizon their knowledge as the young generation is an active participant of social media and is quite easy to be influenced by new concepts on social media.
Moreover, students at Dalat University are highly aware that social media is an invaluable tool for them to develop themselves in various fields. They all claimed that the existence of social media is necessity and brings more advantages than harms.
