Time period: The Italian Renaissance to the Postmodern era of the 21st Century
Objective for my time travel: Visit the Indiana Museum of Art Postmodern Exhibit opening May 5, 2017.
Day 1: As an artist influenced by earlier European traditions, I am on a newfound adventure to visit my Aunt Elizabeth's favorite museum and grounds in her home state of Indiana. For all my blog followers, the Indiana Art Museum was founded in 1883. Just a few years before my time. The Indianapolis Museum of Art is among the 10 largest and 10 oldest general art museums in the United States of America. The Indiana Museum of Art holds an encyclopedic collection of more than 54,000 works spanning 5,000 years. Yes, I hope to …show more content…
As I have said in the past concerning colors, "White represents of light, without which no color can be seen; yellow for earth; green for water; blue for air; red for fire; and black for total darkness." This painting titled, "Finding Moses," holds fast to the traditions of the High Renaissance from which I have come. Italian Art reached a peak of accomplishment. Aunt Elizabeth is a Nutritionist at Riley Children's Hospital and she understands the need to eat regularly in timely intervals. Just like I arrived here in my time machine. The time intervals must be exact in order to transport one from time period to the next. Over lunch, Michaelangelo and I discuss the differences of the art we have seen thus far. We both find the 21st century art interesting, enlightening, and a move from the 16th century artforms. In essence, we see that these artists magnify their subjects much like we do, but in a different format and style. I am truly motivated by their use of color to increase my curiosity and belief in human ability to understand the minds and phenomena of this 21st century.
Our luncheon is complete, now we shall move on to the next exhibit. Remember, art and science are two means to the same end: knowledge. Today, the Indiana Museum of Art has exceeded our expectations and increased or knowledge.
Professor Amanda,
Some of the text was drafted form the Prebles Artforms textbook and the pictures were copied from the IMA website. The overall ideas and concepts are my own. I used the textbook to get a better idea of who Leonardo da Vinci was as an artist.
