High School Teachers Research Paper

Are teachers an important part of society? Solomon Ortiz, the former U.S. Representative for Texas 's 27th congressional district, once said, “Education is the key to success in life, and teachers make a lasting impact in the lives of their students.” Parents and teachers play a huge part in the development of children and teenagers. Students spend time at school for seven hours a day, five days a week depending on the country a person lives in. In the United States of America, students go to school up to twelfth grade. During their time at college, future educators also tend to take child psychology classes and enroll in their higher education’s teacher preparation program, take education courses, and student teach. Furthermore, public school teachers are required to have a state-issued certification or license and to pass a background check. Once all these necessities are filled one can go out into the world in order to pursue gaining a job in a high school. Reisman suggested that anyone wishing to go into the teaching profession, especially in Texas, should learn Spanish. He also pointed out that the major advantage of working in the school system is being able to have so much time off compared to other careers and getting to make a positive impact on students. All jobs have their pros and cons though. The disadvantages discussed are constantly grading, school budget cuts, large classroom sizes, increasingly demanding curriculum requirements, and standardized tests. What he dislikes most and has to make important decisions about is having to discipline immature and irresponsible students. After having to work with students all day and having to deal with all the cons, personally, he is tiring of teaching and ready to leave the school district.
When asked if he had to start all over again in regards to his profession, Mr. Reisman stated quite firmly that he would go to trade school and become an electrician. He said the average length of time that an employ stays in the school district really varies from person to person, but he is reaching his limit.
