One as a instructor must not allow to have the halo effect on the student. Grading is a part of a permanent record that would go to your transcript and it helps other chools or jobs keep a records of your performance and achevievemsnt one reaches. There are two basic philosophies for grading which are norm Reference and Criterion Reference. In norm Reference the student compete with each other to try and get the best grade kind of like a competition and competition always bring the best out of everyone. A good example you have kids race against one and another in a round robin tournament. After the tournament you must gather all your data and rank the students from highest to lowest and grade them based on their performance. On the other hand with criterion reference the students will compete with a standard or criteria. For example if you have a football class you will have different skill assessment like passing, putting, kick, and how accurate you may throw the ball. Based on the info you might get you grade your individual based on each performance from 1-10 then you average out the grade. 10-9= A 8-7=B 6-5= C and below a 5 would be failing. My grading philosophy should be based on Criterion, because being athlete like myself I see there can be a lot of disadvantage and from what I know some people are just more talented than others, so I can just base on norm reference because it …show more content…
My grade philosophy is a citron reference which means students will be based on individual performances and skills for their letter grade. The first thing I did was to select and load activity course objects. My first object is neuromuscular which in my class it is the individual assessment worth 25% of their final grade. In this assessment students would be given a pre and post test and the progression would be assets by a final grade, this would also help them see their progress in the process. After I did this I then look for cluster of scores or natural break and determined the best class improvements. The ones with the most improvements would get a better grade then the students who didn’t really improve a lot, by having this your able to see who actually put in the work outside of class and who didn’t. The next objective is organic fitness which is worth 25% of final grade. My activity for this objective was to run the 1 ½ mile run. I will recorded the students time in mintinues in seconds and in addition to that they would have to take a push up test and a situp test for there grade as well and they will be ranked from lowest to highest depending on their performance the same goes for the girls as well. The interpretive cortical objective which is worth 20% of the final grade was measured by a written final. I will record how many answer
