The rising cost of living makes family couples restrict on household spending. Purchases of unnecessary items will only reduce family income and make the financial crisis more complicated. According to the Chairman of National Single Mothers Association, Wan Safariah Munsurdin, financial issues were identified as the main factor in causing divorce among young couples in Perak. Money factor sometimes causes fights between husbands and wives which complicates and weaken the family institution. Families who have no financial planning basis will have problems managing their finances, especially if household income is very small and limited. According to Emery (2004), families that come from lower incomes are more likely to divorce, which in tum cause these families to have a lower standard of living. According to Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, Royal Malaysian Police and Parliament, a total of 38,314 of domestic violence cases were reported between 2006 and 2015. The increasing rate in this case had threaten the harmony of family institution in Malaysian society. Domestic violence can be defined as acts of violence that cause family members living in fear due to mentally or physically abuse. Today, we often hear cases of domestic abuse in Malaysia where husband abuse the wife with various forms of violence such as abuse of emotionally, physically and sexually. In fact, children also became the victims of domestic violence committed by the father. Typically, this domestic violence usually comes from a small fight that ultimately causes a great rave where one of them became out of control.
