Aristotle once said, “ The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance.” This quotation means that the importance of art is to represent our past, and explain what has happened in today’s society. Art is defined by as the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power. Art is an expression of life, which defines peoples emotions, and creations which allows many people to interpret what art means to them. is a large vase decorated with many designs and representations of cultural importance. It is said that the vases are decorated for funerary representation. The vase is very large and shows a greek ritual in ancient times to practice when the decreased when he or she is laid on a high bed. Relatives and friends come to mourn and pay there respects to the decreased at that time. The vase interprets images of battles of two ships. The center ship has a figure seated under with two warriors fighting with swords. After reading the textbook, and looking at the actual Dipylon Vases (Terra Cotta Krater) is it different because it has better visualizations of the vase, and can see that the vase is detailed with the war between two ships and men fighting with swords. Also the Vases are much bigger than reading them in the textbook, it has a wide opening, and is detailed on the bottom of the vase.
