They faced an abundance of obstacles in their quest of a new and greater life in America. It is easy to take for granted the lives that we live today. As I sit on my bed in my four bedroom house that I share with only three other people, I can not help but reflect on the life I could have had if I was an immigrant living in the city during the late 19th century. I can not help but wonder if I would have had the strength that those immigrants possessed to make a home for myself. If I would have been able to live in a small, single apartment with more than ten other people living with me. If I would have even been fortunate enough to get into an apartment as such or if I would have been living in an alleyway. If I would have made the choice to not let that be my life and to strive for something better. I hope I would
