First love can be blinding. Teenagers and young adults may miss out on valuable life experiences because of these loves. The immaturity and rushed decisions of the two lovers lead to their tragedies.These impulsive actions are demonstrated in Romeo and Juliet when, Romeo and Juliet kiss at the dance after just meeting, get married after one day of knowing each other and when Romeo goes to the apothecary on a whim.
Romeo and Juliet might not have killed themselves, had they not acted immaturely at the dance. After no more than a minute of knowing each other they kiss twice and declare their love for one another. This shows Romeo and Juliet’s closeness. Even though they just met, they think they love each other. In addition, Romeo and Juliet sped immediately into marriage. Thinking it was their only option, they quickly and immaturely got married after one day of knowing one another, without consulting any family members. At their wedding Friar Lawrence says to Romeo and Juliet, “For, by your leaves, You shall stay alone/Till Holy church incorporate two in one” (2.6.36-37). This shows Romeo and Juliet being bound forever, although their marriage is a result of childish behavior, not true love. Lastly, Romeo makes an impulse decision to buy If Romeo had thought about it or discussed it, his good judgement may have gotten the better of him and he would not kill himself, but he is blinded by love.
