Essay On Human Trafficking In Brazil

As a delegate representing Brazil, I can say that we as a country are strongly opposed to human trafficking and the threat it presents to us as a country. Human trafficking is the trading or sale of humans, usually for the purpose of labor or prostitution. Human trafficking threatens our country by increasing the flow of crime and other illicit activities through our borders. Additionally these activities empower organized crime. Human trafficking is the most detrimental to women and children because they are the most susceptible to this atrocious crime. Most trafficking is being committed by men who exist in a culture in which they are considered better than women. The women they are controlling are considered “exotic” and viewed as more of a possession and right than a person. Another issue is that the individuals who are taking women and children from Brazil view them as patient and extremely attractive, so they are a more desirable race for their trade. This initiative in itself shows Brazil's continuing diligence on the subject and how seriously we, as a country, take the matter. The Brazilian Programme to Prevent and Combat the Trafficking of Human Beings is a collection of many measures being taken by Brazil to diminish human trafficking until it is no longer an issue. Some of these actions include; raising public awareness of preventative measures, providing education for both law enforcement and students, and to make it more difficult for these criminals to carry out their malignant work.
