Essay On Hpv Vaccination

This was a long drawn out trial. During this trial, I was swayed different ways at different points. This was a tough trial to be on the jury for. There were so many witnesses that were questioned, many pieces of evidence, as well as quite a few ethical points brought up. The HPV vaccine is a very controversial topic in today’s world. This was the main point of this previous trial. Lou Lou Little, a sixteen year old girl, was required to receive the HPV vaccination. Previously in her life, Ms. Little had decided that she wants to become a nun. For those that aren't aware of the Catholic faith, when a woman swears to the sisterhood, that woman swears her life to abstinence. HPV is a sexually transmitted infection (STI). As stated in the evidence submitted by both the prosecution and defense, HPV is only transmitted through vaginal, anal or oral sex. So if a woman swears her life to abstinence, there is no way for her to get this infection. So if there is no way for her to receive this infection, why does this women need to get a vaccination for it? Lou Lou didn’t want her parents to make a fuss at the school, with the thought that her friends would laugh at and make fun of …show more content…
The fact that this drug is still “in testing,” means it should not being being administered and definitely not required for teenage girls to have to have. The defense did fight very well in this trial, but I fully believe that the prosecution was in the right for this trial. I also felt as if the family should have received the full one million dollars in damages, due to the fact that they have the medical bills from previous hospital visits to pay, as well as any hospital bills in the future that may come from this

One thing I appreciated greatly in section 4 “The Corner”, in, “In cold Blood” by Truman Capote is how even though the story was concluding he still introduced new characters and their stories, continued to develop and show changes in Dick and Perry, and lastly forced me personally to ask if Dick and Perry were given a fair trial. Near the beginning of “The Corner”, Perry began to record his thoughts and daily occurrences while in jail. While this is not abnormal I feel like this was a way for Perry to express himself and block out the fact that he was alone except for his talks with Josephine Meier (Wife of the undersheriff). Dick on the other hand , true to his nature continued to act as if he was superior to everyone else and began to…

Due to the HeLa cell line doctors could determine what precancerous cells looked like by performing pap smears on women. These cells affected the vast majority of women who can now receive the HPV vaccine. The HPV vaccine reduces their chances of contracting most cervical cancers. To emphasize the dependence on the HeLa cells the CDC provides a statistic of how the HPV vaccine impacts women today. “Every year, about 12,000 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer and 4,000 women die from this disease in the U.S.”…

This would have resulted in three families and crucial evidence being thrown out of the evidence, ultimately stating that the jury did not believe in the suffering of those families. Additionally, the jury directions hindered truth-seeking. This is evident in the questions that the jury had to answer in order to deliver a verdict. The technical and difficult questions revolved around the timing of the deposition of chemicals by each company. It can be argued that the timing of contamination if crucial in determining a timeline and implicating each company for the sickness of the children.…

I was lucky to be able to attend a closed session at the Reno Justice Court. My girlfriend is roommates with an elderly woman, and that woman has a niece who is district attorney Peg Samples. She was very kind and was able to allow us to watch the sentencing of this case. The case was the sentencing from The State of Nevada vs. Matthew David Fugate and he had two separate charges in the past for sexually assaulting two teenage boys. Mr. Fugate was being represented by his defense attorney John Ohlson.…

Throughout the years people have claimed and argued their position towards a big question. Although the simple truth thesis states that big questions admit simple, obvious, and undisputable answers this is not true. Big questions never admit straightforward and unquestionable answers. A big question can be anything from What is Life? to Is capital punishment wrong?…

After reading the Devil’s Knot written by Mara Leveritt and watching the trial in class and analyzing all the evidence in the case I’m sure a lot will agree with me that in this case the evidence was very poor. The sentence was not justified or supported with enough evidence. In a case with this magnitude in which minors were involved people would think that the jury would take a close look at the evidence and lead the decision from there which in my opinion did not happen. Most people were appealing to emotion and leaving the facts aside. The small town of west Memphis wanted to rush in order for them to have someone to blame and alleviate the family’s tragedy.…

The case went on for the course of 7 days, ending on July 15, 2016. During the trial multiple witnesses took the stand that varied from the maintenance men that worked for the apartment complex where the incident occurred to the medical examiner who performed the autopsy on the child. The state’s strategy was to use legal evidence to prove a burden of proof by using anything from text messages to the defendant’s own testimony in order prove that the defendant was guilty of all charges. In response, the defense used their witnesses that have seen Danielle Calhoun use physical punishments on various occasions to put the death of the child on the mother. These arguments persisted by the state and the defense for five days until they both delivered their closing arguments.…

Vaccination rates for HPV are relatively low. Receiving the recommendation from a doctor to get vaccinated, strongly correlates to receiving the vaccine (Ylitalo, Lee, Mehta, 2013). The vaccination rate among informed patients is relatively the same for all races and ethnicities in the Unites States. This indicates that race and ethnicity does not impact the willingness to receive the vaccination in this study. However, non-Hispanic whites were 10% more likely to receive the recommendation.…

I headed into the courtroom of Judge Thomas Marcelain to observe my first courtroom trial. The trial involved a 31-year-old man named, Daniel Bohanna, of Pataskala. Mr. Bohanna decided to represent himself in his trial for fear of misrepresentation. He was charged with rape, kidnapping, and felonious assault. I have seen footage on T.V. from famous trials and of course seen reenactments from Hollywood, but I have never been to one in person until now.…

First and foremost, the whole experience is one that I could never forget. I realized that a criminal trail and a pretrial deferred greatly from all the arraignments that I have ever been to. An arraignment in the United States is the formal reading or presentation of charges against an individual as well as the stage where an individual enters a plea of guilty or not guilty. While a pretrial as stated earlier, is a proceeding that includes the judge, prosecutors and the defense attorney who are to access the facts or evidence of a case and decide whether or not they are going to be admissible during the real trial. While the arraignment and pretrial can be considered as the base of the whole trail process, the criminal trial itself is the foundation or house.…

One purpose that RI’s new vaccination legislation serves is ensuring that children in public and private schools are protected against high risk strains of HPV, regardless of the personal judgments of their legal guardians. This protects the children themselves, as well as any future partners they will have sexual contact with—a significant positive externality. Following this logic, RI’s mandate can be reasonably interpreted to be legally…

Ben Pollizi Mrs. Kimmich English 10 Advanced 15 April 2017 Sacco and Vanzetti Shortly after World War 1, the United States was soon gripped with a massive fear of communists, foreigners, and anything that wasn’t American. This fear was taken out on anyone who was in America that wasn’t American. One key example of this was the lives of Sacco and Vanzetti. These two men moved to America before World War 1 had begun. Due to the fact that Sacco and Vanzetti were both Italian immigrants, and were convicted of their crime during a time of massive hatred toward foreigners, the justice system disregarded all the reasonable doubt in their case and declared them guilty.…
