Luckily, Louis Braille was able to attend school, which led him to discovering his ground-breaking means of communication. Prior to Louis’ creation, several others attempted to create a system such as Braille, with the intention of enabling blind people to read and write. However, Braille emerged as the only system that could be utilized in several subjects ranging from math to music. In addition, Charles Barbier’s invention of the slate, a plastic, rectangular box composed of several small square openings inside of it, and stylus, a pen-like structure used to write, made it easy for blind people to write and read without help. How did failing my English II semester I class affect me the way it did? What can i do to prevent falling the next time around?Taking this class again in summer school was a result of me going through a dark time in that time period, and made me not want to care anymore about the consequences that came my way. The main reasons why i did not pass my first semester english grade was because I did not do my work, I would not do presentations that were required, and i would fail most of my weekly vocab quizzes. The primary reason why i did not pass the class was because I chose not to do the work, or I would just not finish the assignments whenever i attempted to do the assignments. My teacher would assign us to read a story in the book and we would summarize it and do the discussion questions at the end of the story.…

One evening, I read an article about a Detroit judge that gave a racist, violent cop the sentencing that he deserved for the wrongful detainment and assault of a young black male. In light of that incident, it reminded me that having the ability to read showed me the importance of opinions, communication and listening as it allowed me to open my eyes to events occurring around the world and hearing other’s opinions about those events. In today’s day and age, reading, writing, and communicating has become a fundamental part of daily life. Most of the ability to read and write is put towards the reading of a restaurant menu, announcements on bulletin boards, or reading comments from social media.…
