According to the 2016 homeless count, a person is classified as homeless if they do not have a place of their own that they could stay for a minimum of 30 days, or if they do not pay rent(Thomson, M., 2016, Pg.7). These is mostly composed of people living without physical shelter on the streets and in other public places, it also includes people living with extended family members or friends and do not pay rent. Homeless people often have a higher risk of death due to the adverse medical conditions that affect them. The homeless people have a higher health care need, but some of them lack the access to this services as a result of discrimination or lack of finances. Canadians believe that everyone is entitle to receiving health care needs regardless of their background or situation.They also believe that Canadians should be provided with care strictly based on their needs and not by their wealth or status. The government and policy makers have been able to make policies that address homeless and access to health care services based on our values.The consultation on the “let's talk housing” was most importantly based on values, because it involved the opinions of thousands of Canadians who believe that a way to improve housing issues in Canada is to provide for the people with distinct need. People who are more likely to become homeless, also by improving the standards of housing because people with poor houses tend to have a poorer health than those than live in houses that provides for their basic needs.
