Essay On Higher Ground Leadership

One time I assumed leadership was when I was a leader at Higher Ground. Higher Ground is a leadership building camp in the mountains of Colorado. Campers spend a week in the mountains doing extreme actives such as rock climbing, water rafting, and high ropes courses. I was a camper at first then they invited me back a second year to be a leader. My responsibilities were that I made sure all first time campers got the most out of every activity. Through those activities there were some kids who were struggling at some activities. I motivated them to keep pushing on, giving them pointers on how to complete the activity. I felt connection to the campers within a week. For example even though I didn’t do a challenge myself, I still felt accomplished by helping out the campers to complete the activity. This experience taught me to trust people who I never meet before.

One of my biggest challenges has been school. My freshman year I went to an all boys school called Sims Fayola. I didn’t do all that well, and so I fell behind in credits. My sophomore year I changed to a school called Vista Academy. It turned out to be a really good school for me.
M first trimester there I mostly made As & Bs, and I also made honor roll, going from being behind in credits to actually being ahead in my

I really love history and social issues. I like this subject so much because it’s relevant to what is happening now in our country and around the world. I don’t know yet if I want to major in these topics, but they are something I'm interested in. I have always loved school even though I have struggled in school. I’m learning to persevere. I know I need to improve on this because one of my weaknesses is if something is to hard for me to do, I get frustrated and want to give up on it. I feel like that’s a bad thing, and I’m working on it because I want to have a good future, and that means I have to overcome

I have also gained leadership inside of my bank class, in bank we are instructed to be trustworthy and help our customers to the best of our ability. Another place that I have showed leadership is when I have guided some of the students in my English class how to write an analysis essay over the books that they had chose. I carefully instructed them of how a hook should be used stating that they should avoid using a question to gain the reader's attention because we have been using that tip since we have begun learning how to write essays. I advised them that they must use a new tool to fully gain and increase their knowledge of something they had not used. I have taught them with a good hook and thesis the reader will be more than ecstatic to read their essay and with that you will make an amazing…

My most significant leadership experience would be when I was in the Girls Varsity Tennis Team. I had been in the tennis team during my highschool years, for 2 years. During that time I learned a lot about being a leader, such as what it means to lead others, and what qualities a leader should have. When I first started playing tennis I started at the position on 2nd doubles, to me I took it as that I was not good enough to play against an opponent by myself on the court. Which was entirely true, because when I began playing I was not any good whatsoever.…

I thoroughly enjoyed being the middle man between my dedicated coach and my hardworking team of girls. The experience I gained from those couple of months as captain really helped me gain confidence in myself and my abilities to lead. When I came back the following year as a Junior on the Jv team, my coach pulled me aside told me how important my leadership on the field would be that year. I took this opportunity very seriously and really looked after my team.…

Growing up, leadership has always played a huge role in my life. It has helped me grow as a person and allowed me to learn new skills. In middle school, I enjoyed working with my peers to organize events and help others. For example, as a member of my school’s choir, I took the opportunity to help organize concerts, design brochures and make posters to inform the school community about upcoming concerts and events. In addition, I took part in the fundraiser to help raise money for our music department at Carson.…

At the end of my junior year, I applied and interviewed to become photo editor. Being photo editor this year has given me the courage to take control and learn how to give direction to others.…

Another time that I have taken a leadership role is when our sideline cheer team had a booth at the Water Festival. I took the morning shift and when I got there I had all of the materials but only me and my coach had shown up and she still had to head back to the school to get the things we were selling. So while she went and got the stuff I stayed at the booth and lead it by myself until my teammates came and helped. I decided to be a leader in this situation because I knew that it was what I had to do to help my coach out so that she could get her stuff done. I believe that by leading the booth for a few hours I helped my coach accomplish what she had to do for the day and helped my team by sitting at the booth fundraising to help pay for some of our debts.…

The biggest challenge I have faced thus far was moving from North Carolina to California in the middle of freshman year. Although I was born in Downey, California and attended California schools until the age of seven, North Carolina was a big part of shaping me into the young lady I am today. My family and I moved a great amount when I was growing up so that meant attending an abundance of schools. When my family moved to North Carolina I had an extremely difficult time adjusting to this new lifestyle. I thought about all my friends and family I left…

UC Essays 1. Describe an example of your leadership experience in which you have positively influenced others, helped resolve disputes or contributed to group efforts over time. 342 Some people believe that leadership is all about telling others what to do, but for me, it is primarily about being hyper-observant, and then stepping up to meet any need arises. This style has helped me while serving as the Vice-President of the Red Cross club at my school. Being leader doesn’t mean being the boss of everybody, that’s a completely different thing. Leading is actually working with the people and going through everything together, you don’t watch them do everything while you tell them what to do.…
