Essay On Health Care Interview

Columba C. Millan is the Director of Medical Records at Broadway by the Sea, which is a skilled nursing facility. She immigrated to the United States from the Philippines in 1983. She studied in the Philippines and got a bachelor of science in professional agricultural engineer and then had to take the license exam when she came to the U.S. Even though Columba does not have a degree that pertains to health care, she does have about forty years of experience that has allowed her to grow within the field and learn many valuable skills. As a future healthcare professional I know that the health care field is moving towards an electronic format; we now have electronic medical and health records. It is now starting to become important that we have a basic understanding of the electronic system. One of the main reasons I chose to interview Columba was because when I was starting my degree in healthcare administration I was interested in the information technology aspect of health care. Even though I am now taking a minor for human resources management, I still envision myself working in medical records; the interest for IT hasn’t gone away. I feel that many of the issues she has trouble with can be solved by having more managerial skills and less technical skills. She needs to be able to communicate effectively to her co-workers so that they can know that she is having issues with their work. I now know that no matter what position you have in an organization, whether it’s as an assistant or as a director, communication would always remain in place. Everyone would still have to communicate with each other and learn how to work together to avoid future
