Me: Good morning Theresa! How are you?
Theresa: Good, I am doing well.
Me: Thank you for coming over to my house! Let’s sit in the sunroom. The long futon over there is waiting for you. Would you like a drink? By the way, thank you for letting me interview you for my class assignment!
Theresa: I could go for some tea. And you’re welcome. Thanks for choosing me.
Me: No problem! If you don’t mind, I would like for you to answer just three questions. They are all about how you feel about the health care system in America.
Theresa: Okay, sounds good!
Me: Great! My first one is ‘Tell me about a memorable experience you have in health care.’
Theresa: Well, I am not sure how to answer this question because you want me to talk about health care, and there are many facets of health care that I could tell you that I experienced. Since this is for your class that involves medicine, I suppose I will tell you “what you want to hear”. Here we go. As a thirty-nine year old woman, I feel the need as a female to have health care to secure my life. So, I cannot pinpoint one experience with health care that is vividly memorable, but can tell you about how it has affected me throughout my life.

If I was diagnosed with cancer, for instance, I would eventually have to undergo chemotherapy and need this procedure to be financially covered. Thus, I would depend on Medicare, an element we see in health care. Otherwise, I think we would be at a disadvantage if we did not have any health care insurance in this situation. Thus, health care on the spectrum of insurance affects us on the level of financial

After arranging my interview I began by looking into Life Care Centers as a company, with the aim to better grasp what the company was. In the interview, I focused on the suggested questions on the syllabus, and I tried to familiarize myself beforehand in case some were answered without prompt. I could have taken time to think out more specific to healthcare questions for a more company focused discussion. Generally, I kept the interview centered around the questions asked; occasionally, the focus got slightly of course, but I doubt that would be hard to avoid. Next time I would mainly focus on practicing what I would say in the interview more beforehand.…

The right to affordable health care is as sacrosanct as the right to be free, if not more. The most important issue is making medical care a right for everyone at an affordable price.
