Essay On Gummy Bear

Decent Essays
I grew as a student in the area of knowledge. Before this semester I never knew that if you put a gummy bear in normal water that it figure would absorb the water. If you put a gummy bear with salt than the gummy bear has competition to collect water because of the salt. Now I know that water moves from high to low concentration. Just like in the gummy bear lab cells ask for water when they’re dehydrated. They also release water when they’re full. An interesting fact that I learned is that when a dead body is in the water for a certain amount of time the body starts to expand, the cells start to get bigger and burst. Which explains that when the body is exposed to water with a certain amount of time is when it starts to rip and burst. My Gummy bear Lab that is in my Biology notebook is evidence of my growth. It is a lab that we did in class. This lab with the gummy bear are tests. We’re trying to figure out what will happen to the gummy bear if it's left overnight in …show more content…
Before this semester I never knew a way to communicate with the people who take action in helping the problems of the world. I’ve been thinking about helping with this type of situation since I was in middle school, but I never knew how to and I never knew how to take action.Know I have the chance to help with the teachers and my companions help too. This I never had the chance to do this by myself. Now I know that it is better to be apart of a group so you can bounce your ideas off of each other. It’s fantastic that we're doing this because it's hard to find an organization that responds quickly to your e-mail. Sometimes it takes a while to find an organization that's helping your cause. Something else I learned is that once you have an e-mail from them that they will help us then the hard part come and figuring out what to do, but some of us would have a idea of what to do and when to raise the money for the

With the before and after measurements in two graphs, one can easily figure out that no matter which solution the bear is soaked in, it will increase to some extent. In tap water, the gummy bear started with a mass of two point eight grams and changed 217.9 percent to eight point nine grams. The volume of the gummy bear started off at 1,296mm^3 and change 617.6 percent to a volume of 9,300 grams (Table 1). In the cup is sugar water, the gummy bear went from a mass of two point seven grams to seven point three grams with a 170.4 percent change. The Tetrahymena has a contractile vacuole that protects them from absorbing too much water, causing cytolysis, in which a cell swells up and could result in explosion of the cell. The contractile vacuole expands when water enters it and contracts to release water to maintain equilibrium and to regulate the concentration of water within the cell. The Tetrahymena is placed in different solutions with different concentrations of solute (salt) to see the rate of how fast and how slow the contractile vacuole will move in these…

In the book, “The Irresistible Revolution,” the main idea of the book was how to live a “true Christian lifestyle” which is based off of loving all of God’s humans, Christian or not, as well as God’s environment. In our class discussion of chapters one and two, a recurring idea is how some people who consider themselves Christians in church can act like good and righteous people helping others on Sundays, then turning around on Mondays and blowing off everyone else, just as long as they get the name of being a Christian in a church, rather than living and following the true Christian ways. In this book, the author also discussed that is some situations, you can find more people who live a Christian life lifestyle in a sewer than in a church.…

Seated on the plane to Beijing, I was thinking all the way on what I did through the past year. My mind went back to the time when my friends and I worked together for Chinese orphans by creating a club. With 100 dollars from donation, I asked several classmates to help me set up a club called ‘Bring Me Hope Club’ to cooperate with a global NGO: Bring Me Hope, to raise money for Chinese orphans and build long-term personal one-to-one relationships with them.…

The solution is likely hypotonic. This means that it contains a higher concentration of water than concentration of solutes. As a result, water molecules move from the surrounding solution into the cell and the cell gains water. Statistics flashed across a screen, solemn music accompanied a slideshow of scenes showing desolate landscapes and impoverished communities. On screen, a mother held her starving child and a group of girls in mismatched clothes gathered water from a muddy well. We watched a presentation given to us before the service event and listened to the instructor as he described the conditions in other countries. He showed us photos of the people we would be helping during the mission, communities that were in desperate need of donations, supplies, and most importantly, food. The Lifeline food packing mission was my first service experience, which was the case for most of the students who participated, and it as also one of the first glimpses we had of just how bad the situations are in countries where starvation and malnutrition are so common.…

While graduating, I tried to raise others’ awareness about important issues faced by societies across the world, which directly motivated me to write on the sensational subjects in local newspapers, college magazines etc. which reflect the emotions of underrepresented people. I visited and spent time with school children in peripheral government schools not only instructing them academically but moreover sharing experiences of city life and such changes that would inevitably infiltrate their lives too at some future date. These varied experiences have combined to make me the tolerant, worldly person I am today; I value the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life and never hesitate to share my experiences and knowledge with others to help broaden their own…
