Grandpa’s Getaway Trips Grandpa’s proof that we all need to take time off doing something fun because it relaxes the body and relieves stress from the real world. Sitting in grandpa’s office for an hour waiting for him to get done with his meeting listening to him explain how insurance works. Paul Rhodes which I also call Pops; my hard working grandpa owning his own business and making it to all of us grandchildren events for school. He rarely has time to himself because while working and going to events he also has a farm to take care of and keep in shape. Grandpa once in awhile goes on these getaway trips at least three times a year, he goes on family float trips and trail rides. To him it 's where he gets away from all the social media and his work to to have fun with friends and family. Grandpa says, “There are really two kinds of trips” (0:41). There are these trail rides he goes on by himself then family float trips. When he goes trail riding he usually goes down in South Missouri or Illinois. He usually takes one or two mules up with him and rides for couple days or weeks it depends if he needs to come back home for work. Grandpa told me once that he and his friends Chet and Darrel ride for hours and hours everyday while they are down there. He says that they will pack lunches to go and just stop on the trail and snack. Pops told me about when he had went down in Illinois once and he had found this rock that was the letter H and it was on top of another rock; Pops thought that was cool because his middle initial starts with a H which stands for Howard. On these trail rides, he has taken the most beautiful pictures of the sunset on top of a hill and said he was amazed by how pretty it looked and how relaxing it was to sit on top of the hill and look …show more content…
Falling off the mules multiple times did not stop him from doing what he loved and what relaxed him. After the details of the getaway trips, my grandpa described his feelings about the getaway trips that he took; “ I learn that the sun comes up everyday and sun goes down everyday and it 's always a new day” (31:58). Grandpa’s story of finding something he loves and taking a break from all the hard work he does and also from the social media helps prove that there is a way to find how the body can relax and relieves the stress from the real world around
