Only Marshall and Sutter were the only ones in the California region. As much as they wanted to keep this news between the both of them, it still got out. By March, there was a news report that went out that said that there was large quantities of gold in the California region. It is an urge of greed and excitement by a gold rush. Miners used to kill each other using whatever they could find around them. Some people will help one another, and in doing so, earns each other’s trust. After the two people find the gold, betrayal begins. Everyone that came to California (including Mexicans, Canadians, Chinese, etc…) has been affected by the gold fever. The Gold Rush was one of the most gruesome and selfish events that has been recorded in American history. It proves that these people are very selfish when it comes to gold.
