Essay On George Zimmerman Shooting

The George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin shooting caused a lot of hate toward both men, but mainly Zimmerman. Zimmerman was called a racist, due to Martin being black. This shooting sparked up quite a lot of controversy that is still going on to this day. Zimmerman was later found not guilty which angered the citizens who sided with Martin who thought that Zimmerman was guilty. On the night of February 26th, 2012, the Sanford PD received a call from a man (Zimmerman) reporting a suspicious person (Martin). Zimmerman claims that he is part of the neighborhood watch program, and that the man was acting suspicious. The Sanford
PD instructs Zimmerman not to approach the man or leave his vehicle. Zimmerman disregards the instructions and approaches the man on foot. After a quick confrontation between the two, shots were fired. Zimmerman claimed self defense after police show up, which would have been believed because of the injuries that he received including a broken nose and a wound on the back of his head. On February 27th, Martin’s father files a missing person report. He later identifies his son by an autopsy picture, Zimmerman was then placed on trial. Later, CNN analyzes one of the tapes of Zimmerman’s call to dispatch, in which he is reported to have used a racial slur against blacks. The results are conclusive, which citizens believed that his motive behind the shooting was because Martin was black.
