Hate is a very powerful emotion, one that makes letting go of something impossible. Forgiveness is just as strong; it gives people the strength to move on and helps the healing slowly. Many places in the world have been victims of hate and cruelty. History itself has had its share. However, after all has happened, there are broken people. These people have two choices, to hate, or to forgive. In reality, forgiveness does not empower people to overcome the effects of hatred because the criminal shows no remorse, a loved one is lost, and discrimination towards someone’s race and religion, to many people, can not be forgotten. There is a family, mourning the loss of their child because the man across from them, standing before a judge, has been convicted of murder. The man standing before the judge shows no emotion, he does not feel bad for what actions he took, this man feels no empathy for the family. These groups of people targeted certain races or religions also known as discrimination. Examples of hate crimes were, for example, September 11, 2001 (9/11), when a group of extremists crashed planes into the Twin Towers in New York City. According to the song by The Black Eye Peas, “Where is the Love?”, is stated on line 8,” The Blood from the Crips and the KKK…” This line explains the destruction the K.K.K gave to the people of the United States. In this case, the K.K.K targeted mainly African American slaves. On line 37, it says,” Chemical gasses fillin’ lungs of little ones…” This is talking about the gas chambers the Natzi’s created to to send Jews who were too young or too weak to work to their death.
