Essay On Football Conditioning

Football training is a non-stop process all year long, and football conditioning workouts should reflect the position of the player and their individual goals. Conditioning is a big part of playing the game of football and without proper conditioning, it’s going to be hard to win on any level. So off season and preseason are going to be key in our teams conditioning program. My philosophy in conditioning for a football team is to be in the best shape possible before the season begins. I would train conditioning and strength gains on opposite days with conditioning days to be no more then 2-3 days a week. The task of the strength and conditioning team and coaches is to deliver a well-made, collective conditioning program built on sound physiological …show more content…
I’ll start by getting my position groups based on size and skills. There won’t be a lot of difference in the training ways between the groups just a set of different goals for each of the groups. I would start with shuttles of variety of yards from 50-250 yards but having my skills players and lineman needing to reach their set goal times. Shuttles are down and back conditioning drills. A player that is running a 100 yard shuttle will run 50 yards and then come back. My goal times for the lineman at 50 yards with the lineman are going to be set at 10 seconds with rest ratio set at 1:2, meaning when they run for 10 seconds they get 20 seconds to …show more content…
I will give the players several weeks off to recollect themselves from the long grueling season and to not get burnt out before the next season gets amped up. The off season workout goals will be to maintain our conditioning levels and to build upon them for next season. These will be similar to the same workouts that the team did in pre-season but a lot more focus and getting stronger and faster and with conditioning levels trying to keep them maintained. The athletes will spend a lot more time in the weight room lifting and they will spend time running. I will have them work on their power and strength. They will increase their short burst speed with sprints. Once a week they will run shuttles to keep their conditioning

While playing football you have a goal of taking the ball from one end of the field to the other without having to handover the ball to the other team. The field is 100 yards and you have 4 tries to move the ball 10 yards, and once that requirement is met, you get 4 more tries to get another 10 yards and so on so fourth. These trys are ended when the knee of the player in possession of the ball touches the ground. There are a total of three main ways you may score in football.
