Growth mindset to me is when people know they can improve and become better with effort and persistence.
For many years I had a fixed mindset on going back to school and enrolling into college. The thought was always in my head. I went to the college to get information I had not graduated from high school they told me I could take classes to graduate or get my GED before I was able to take college courses for a degree. After that I went home and thought about getting my GED. It took me a couple weeks to make up my mind. I then started taking example GED test online. Watching her inspired me. We talked a lot she encouraged me to back to school not only her so did my father and my significant other. My friend had a rough life she was into drugs and the highest grade level she completed was sixth grade. She no longer uses drugs she goes to college and takes care of her family. She has a 4.0 GPA . Watching her succeed in college is what changed my fixed mindset to a growth mindset. Not only that the support from her, my father, and my significant other. Watching her success and looking at my past was the turning point of my life. I said to myself if you survived that you can make it through college your smart, strong, and not a quiter. I think why it took me so long to get out of my fixed mindset was the abusive relationship I was in causing my self-esteem and self-worth to be low. I did not feel good enough or smart enough to try to go back to school. Now I have a growth mindset and a desire to improve myself, my life, and to be a better person. How having a growth mindset will help me peserve to graduation is by giving my coursework all my effort, being persistent and positive. Having a growth mindset will help me in learning
