This is important as it guides the teachers ' behaviors and serves as a "road map" for the journey in achieving the Ministry of Educations National Policy for Education. The schools motto is displayed on the wall of the schools compound that faces the entrance. Even though we were on orientation visit prior to the field teaching I did not meet these student nor interacted with them, additionally having my practicum advisor present made me even more nervous. This impacted significantly on my lesson delivery as my voice began to quiver at the very beginning of the lesson and I even forgot to outline my objectives to the class on the first day, even though I wrote it on the whiteboard. However as I began interacting with the students this fear quickly when away. Once this was gone having dialogue and discussions with class came naturally. I was even able to motivate one a female student who was very disruptive on the first day by the end of the week she was participating in discussions and listening …show more content…
There were also moments when I was saddened when for example when I delivered my first lesson. The students expressed their gratitude to have me and my colleague teach them and this was very satisfying. I could have stayed and teach these students without getting a salary I would do it. It was such a transition to see a disruptive student become so involved in her group work and participated in a presentation. I believe that aside from academic educators should strive to cause some form of positive change in their students. While I am still not totally confident because there is a lot more work to be done, I feel that I have attained a small level of confidence and I will use this experience to help me grow and develop into professional
