I am looking forward to getting to know you and being able to work with you this semester! I was born and raised in a small town outside of Buffalo, New York. My parents, and three siblings have played a huge role on my life. Throughout high school, I spent the majority of my time working and playing sports. The major reason I chose education is to impact the lives of children. As I was in elementary school, I had one teacher who truly impacted my life and I wanted to impact children the exact way she did to me. Along with that, my grandfather was a teacher. Due to the fact that I looked up to him throughout my entire life, I wanted to follow in his footsteps. The main reason I chose to be an intervention specialist as well is because of my twin cousins. I have twin cousins that were diagnosed with disabilities at birth. Due to the fact that I grew up with them, I became extremely passionate about them and their disabilities. Along with that, I have observed things within their education that have benefited them and also things that have harmed their growth. Each of these reasons impacted my decision to become an early childhood

Field Experience at Wildwood and Ernest Manning My cohort of ten was assigned to visit two schools over a two-week period with a full week dedicated to each location. The two schools were Wildwood elementary and Ernest Manning high school and while their relative closeness to one another would suggest that some Wildwood students may eventually be at Ernest Manning, they are opposites in terms of their status, how they carry themselves, and what they believe to be most important for students. Wildwood elementary is an old school as observed from its small and outdated architecture. Classes are small and at times claustrophobic, especially when packed with 20-25 of the nearly 600 students making it difficult if not impossible to navigate the…

It all started in senior year of high school, a moment where, because of my lack of effort at certain times of my teenage life, I was left with very few options regarding where I could go pursue my education after graduating high school. It is important to emphasize that although I wasn’t sure what exactly I was capable of, I was sure that I was capable of great things and high school failed to inspire me to become the best person I could be. I was disoriented yet self-assured. Luckily, thanks to some thoughtful people who guided me in the right moment, I was able to get in to the Macklin Business Institute at Montgomery College and I was given the opportunity to try out and get recruited to play for MC soccer team. The experiences that followed…

When the game started we (my team and Fenton’s team) sang the “ Star Spangled Banner” on the 1st and 3rd base line.…

Field Experience Working as a Para educator in the Mt. Pleasant School District had opened my understanding about how important it is the job of a teacher. Mrs. Ensminger, a level 1 special education teacher, is already at school no later than 7:15 am. Before school even starts she is already coordinated with core class teachers what she need to work on every individual student under her care. First period in her class is Science.…

The first graph illustrates the different ethnicity groups the students of Harrisonburg High are a part of.
