First of all, we made a stop at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado, where we were just in time to watch a show put on by the Thunderbirds of the U.S. Air Force. The jets dipped in and out, upside down,(revolve, pivot) and back and forth which was truly amazing to watch from the ground. Almost everything we saw after the jets was rock, that seemed to never end. Our families walked the Royal Gorge Bridge that is 1,260 feet long and 1,053 feet high in the air. All of our palms and feet were sweating as we stared down below the bridge at endless rock and walked at a fast pace to get to the opposite end of the bridge. The next adventure we had with rock was 14,114 feet in the air, Pikes Peak Mountain. Once we were at the top of Pikes Peak, we could “touch” the clouds. Although the elevation and pressure made me throw up, it was quite a new experience to be able to run my hands through a cloud and look down at the world below me. The last set of rocks we looked at was at the Garden of Gods. There, we saw the Kissing Camels, Balancing Rock, and the Sleeping Giant. Those rocks were some of the most creatively “placed” rocks anyone in my family or the Winter’s family had ever seen before. The sights our two families had visited in the five days were amazing new things to see, but in those five days we also did new …show more content…
White water rafting was a new experience to every one of us. It was a huge adrenaline rush speeding through rapids and trying to keep the raft from flipping over. There were many times on our trip down the river we all thought the raft was going to tip or pop because of the huge rock we were hitting. The raft never popped or tipped. A true rodeo was once again a new experience. The Winter’s and ourselves got to see two complete eight-second rides, which you don’t see very often unless you are at a professional bull ride. Clowns, calf roping, and barrel racing were other activities we also got to watch at the rodeo. On our last day of family vacation in Colorado, our two families went to a Major League Baseball game, put on by the Rockies. We showed up to the game plenty early so we could get our seats, but we also wanted to watch the baseball players warm up since we had never been to a Major League Baseball game before. As the players were warming up, they threw baseballs into the stands that were signed. All of my sisters, the Winter kids, and myself stood close enough to the field that different players threw all seven of us an individually signed baseball. Showing up early to that Rockies game was one of the best advantages because we all received a souvenir that takes us right back into that moment at the baseball game
