We, as humans, live to embrace our growth and evolution. As we make progress we make more predictions on what our society will look like in our future, then we strive to get there. We strived so hard that we have accomplished more in a decade than what we could in a century, a century ago. In terms of our accomplishment, technology is a huge one. We have made significant advances in technology that provides several conveniences and cool features. Yet, many science fiction novels have left us with a dreadful and a scary fate where technology has overtaken our whole lives and keeps darkening our lives everyday. From small devices to large ones, they are incredibly unique and are advanced to do tasks that we can not do otherwise. But, is it dragging everyone down. Is technology preventing us, as a society, from growing? Truly, yes. Technology is certainly being overused. Since the first electronic device has been published into the world it has been causing lack of privacy, lack of social skills, and numerous health issues. Even Ray Bradbury thought that it would end up like this, and he wrote Fahrenheit 451 almost a century ago.
Fahrenheit 451 manifests that technology is extremely deficient for our society through the actions and events that occur to the protagonist; Montag. Montag is but a simple fireman who resides in a society where everything is technology based. There is no thought process or train of thought going through anyone’s mind including Montag’s, because all they can think about is the moment that they are living in: the present.
