In 20th century energy consumption increased rapidly 80% of the energy consumption of the world is obtained by the fossil fuels. With increasing modernization and industrialization natural resources are being used rapidly. But in this process, certain bi-products are also produced which are released into the environment altering its balance. For instance due to rise in income level people no more believe in car pulling and travelling private vehicles and airplanes. Also the industrialized countries burn more and more fossil fuel to produce energy and while doing this produce harmful gases and water waste products which pollute the environment. Because of these gases the temperature of the earth is increasing. The temperature of the earth is already up by degree Fahrenheit and globally has increased more in polar regions. This rising temperature has resulted in global warming leading to depletion in ozone layer. This depletion has caused formation of an ozone hole through which harmful ultra violet radiations reaches the earth causing cancer, cataract damage to plants and aquatic animals. The gases produce are carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases which majorly includes methane , chlorofluro carbons, aerosol propellants and sulphur dioxide. Carbon dioxide emission is associated with cars, planes, power stations and burning of fossil fuels, Sulphur dioxide is main cause of …show more content…
The need of the hour is sustainability. Use and replenishment of resources should go hand in hand. We are exploiting nature’s resources and producing waste in the form of carbon dioxide emissions at a rate of 44% percent faster than our mother nature can regenerate and reabsorb. If humanity continues to use the natural resources at this pace, we humans will require resources equivalent to two planets to meet our demands by 2030. This can be explained by the example of candy jar, a jar filled with candies will get empty if we start taking 2-4 candies per day but on the other hand, if we take two candies and put back 1-2 candies daily the levelwill remain almost same. This is what mankind has to do to save the resources for ourselves and for future generations to come, we need to use the resources and manage energy effectively and efficiently. For doing this government has to invest in renewable energy programs and encourage people to adopt simple measures for replenishing energy. Our society is divided into rich and poor, rich people use more energy and resources to sustain their standard of living while the poor people uses minimal energy which is not enough to fulfil his basic needs. Once this inequality is removed, natural resources will be used at a faster rate as it is being used now. People who are poor or below the poverty line should increase their energy and resources consumption to move
