Entitlement is the belief that we have the right to something. In America, Entitlement has been a huge topic especially regarding today’s generation of teens. The past generations look down on us because of our belief in what we are entitled to. Today, if you ask an average teen what they are entitled to, they would probably say that feel entitled to their cell phone, clothes, and even a job. These ideas of what we feel entitled to are all influences by the fact that United States is a developed country and pop culture influences the society at a high level. There are many individuals all over the world that doesn’t have health insurance so they can’t afford the medication they need. This number is continuing to grow every day. An individual’s lack of money shouldn’t determine if they can live or not. About forty-three percent of working-adult Americans which is roughly 80 million, decided not to go to the doctors because they can’t afford the visits. (CNN, 2013) America is a first world country and health insurance is an issue so looking at the less developed countries, you can only imagine how the insurance is. It has been a topic in many political debates because of how important it is.
There hasn’t been a solid response to this situation which makes me feel that it is something we have the right to. We have the right to have equally chance of living no matter what the income is. Entitlement is a base of need more than want and I believe that nothing is more needed than our lives. Obviously, I am biased to this situation because of my views.
