In accordance with Federal Law (HIPAA), healthcare providers are required to have a written policy on protecting personal health information with the inclusion of Patient Care Reports. This agency will be switching to the use of electronic patient care reports (ePCR), as the end of this month. Manually written PCRs will no longer be processed.
Please check review the training bulletin board for your required attendance and training schedule. If you are not able to make the scheduled day of training, please contact your supervisor immediately. The following policy and procedures will take effect as of the 1st of next month.

Regularly unscheduled security checks will be implemented for all employees to ensure the security procedures are adhered to in order to protect the patient’s personal health information.
A prehospital care report shall be completed for each patient treated or transported when acting as part of this organized prehospital emergency medical service. Each ambulance crew will be responsible and required to leave a completed paper copy or transfer an electronic PCR to the receiving hospital ER staff, authorized agent for the department, or designated lockbox. This will be done prior to leaving the hospital, or prior to becoming available. Instructions for electronic submission will be detailed during your training session.
All electronic patient record information will be completed during working hours and on company owned equipment. Access to patient records on personally owned computers, or on any outside computer is prohibited. Violation of this regulation will result in immediate
