Music has been around since the beginning of time. It is everywhere you go and it will never go away. Music is a sense of communication, it provides a way to express the emotions one is feeling and it even has the ability to alter emotions and lift one 's spirits. All of the different ways music effects the lives of people today are unique and priceless. Where would the world be without music? It has been scientifically proven that if we are feeling anxious or depressed music may be able to boost are spirits. We see this idea used frequently in music therapy. In my experience, singing is a very effective way in calming an infant, whether your goal is to keep them from crying or to lull them to sleep. lullabies have been around for centuries. Some of my fondest memories were of my mother singing " You Are My Sunshine" to me before bed when I was young. It has been proven that music is very important in children 's lives as well. They may not be able to name the president of their country or be aware of any current events, but they can sing commercial jingles and identify different theme songs quite easily. (Juslin 64) Anymore, one can not go through any social media pages and not find numerous different statements about music 's effect on people. Examples of this are "Without music, life would be a mistake" which was said by Friedrich Nietzsche, "People haven 't always been there for me but music always has" which was said by Taylor Swift, or "Music is what feelings sound like" (Quotes). It has been proven that music does indeed have an effect on emotions, but what is even more important is that music has a personal effect on emotions. One song could could cause someone to feel happiness, while someone else listening to the same song could feel something else entirely. Music provides an emotional escape that no one else shares.
