It felt sort of like in the book when Jeannette says, “We moved around like nomads” (Walls 19). I was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, and my family moved to Zanesville, Ohio when I was about nine months old. That move was hardly a tragic experience for me seeing as I don’t remember it, so I don’t think it really counts. I lived in Zanesville until I was almost nine years old. This was the only place I had ever known, and when my parents said that we were moving, I was in complete disbelief.…

Moving for my dad's job hurt me, but it also changed a lot of things for me. For me, going from sunny California to bipolar South Dakota was huge. From what I thought was cold weather in Cali to getting here in December is definitely something I won’t ever forget. California's winter temperatures are like South Dakota's fall temperatures. Now when I go back home, and people are complaining about 40 degree weather, I just tell them that it's nothing compared to here.…

When I was eight years old, I moved from Manchester, MA to Fort Mill South Carolina. For the first five years, I absolutely hated it there and I despised my parents for making me move there.
