On September 15, 1963, a church in Birmingham Alabama was bombed. It was a quiet Sunday morning. The 16th ST. Baptist church was a place where multiple civil rights leaders met, along with a predominantly black congregation. That morning at 10:22 am, a bomb went off in the church. Four young girls were killed and over two dozen injured. Outrage occurred after the incident with the protesters and the police. But it did bring a great deal of attention to the hard-fought struggle for civil rights for African Americans. The protest was about the statue of Robert E Lee. It's in a public park in Charlottesville Virginia. Many people protested to take it down, but white supremacists also protested to keep it there. Blacks and other protesters demanding it is taken down others thought of the statue as a sign of hate. As the white protesters said it was an important part of their history and heritage. The violence became so unbearable and life-threatening, the governors put Virginia in a state of emergency. Afterward, a car was driving at very high speeds and shot into the crowd of protesters. It left many injured and 3 dead. This made things worse. Even more, violence broke out between both
