When Cyrano catches the Meddler looking at his nose, he starts to ask him questions on how he feels about it. After the Meddler sarcastically responds to Cyrano that he has a small nose, Cyrano begins to explain his pride for his nose. He says, “Magnificent, My nose ? … You pug, you knob, you button-head, Know that I glory in this nose of mine, For a great nose indicates a great man-- Genial, courteous, intellectual, Virile, courageous--as I am--and such As you--poor wretch--will never dare to be Even in imagination” (Rostand 29). Cyrano accepts his nose and is willing to defend it to anyone. This is proven after Valvert says Cyrano’s nose is big and Cyrano insults Valvert by being able to make fun of himself better than anyone else can.
