Power is something that can corrupt even the best of people. A lot of times power corrupts people that are supposed to help others; People that are supposed to lead but instead use their power for their own personal gain. Anybody can be corrupted by power, Macbeth from Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Police officers, Politicians, Anybody can become corrupt.
Macbeth by William Shakespeare is a perfect example of how power can corrupt even the best of people. Macbeth used to be one of Scotland’s best warriors; He was noble and honest, people would go to him in time of need. Macbeth killed the king of Scotland for his own personal gain, So he would become king. Every other day you will see or hear about how police officers use their power for their own personal gain. Some police officers will turn on their car sirens just to run stop lights, or to be able to speed; This is not anything terrible, they aren’t really hurting other people by doing this, but it is still wrong. According to Kate Abbey-Lambertz “Two Detroit police officers used their authority as law enforcement to arrange drug deals, orchestrate traffic stops, effect false arrests and coerce and extort victims, all in order to steal money and drugs that were then sold for profit” It is acts like those that are really bad. Arranging drug deals and traffic stops, false arrests, all of it for their own personal gain. People that are supposed to help us, using their powers against us, just to help
