Slavery has been a major problem in the United States history. In the year 1619 slaves were thought to be not even human. But when Abraham Lincoln came into office, an uproar was sent across the country. The argument was, "should slaves be allowed in America or not?" The Southern believed that they needed slaves to work on their farms. The Northerners, on the other hand, believed all men were equal and America would be better without slaves. The United States split and the Southerns made a flag which is now known today as the Confederate Flag. "Many people believe that, the flag is a "symbol of hatred that glorifies hatred and bigotry." With kids wearing the Confederate Flag in highschools, it is making it hard for other kids. It is making them, "think of slavery," as the article "Hatred or Heritage," states.
