Essay On Coast Guard Application

Above all, it demands discipline rooted in a sense of service.

I came in motivated by a passion for self-improvement and a fierce determination to be self-sufficient. It took six months of disciplined effort to meet the weight requirements. I learned firsthand through that journey that I had a greater capacity within myself than I was aware. The only way to find my limits is to push them; the five miles that felt impossible then, has now become routine and expanded. I continue to apply this premise to all of my actions, sharing my experience by encouraging others on their own paths. The

Above my professional and educational achievements, what sets me apart is my perseverance and positive attitude. As the survivor of a sexual assault, which greatly disrupted my life, I have learned how to overcome the traumas and setbacks in life. I have learned to take control of a situation, be proactive, and always maintain and invest in social connections. The people we have in our lives are our greatest assets, whether for expertise on topics we are unfamiliar with, or support in the face of trying situations. This, above all else, is what I have carried away from my experience. It is a core motivating factor to be an example for those just beginning, and to mentor and reach out to those around me. I did not allow that experience to defeat my goals; I persisted in the completion of my degree and beyond; I also found ways to positively channel my experience by helping others navigate their own

My father and I had grown apart, but slowly were reconnecting over the years of disconnect and resentment. I was approached my sophomore year by a Marine recruiter who convinced me to be a part of “The Few, The Proud, The Marines!” My mind had swiftly changed from Army to the United States Marine Corps (USMC) in a matter of a day. Besides who didn’t want to be a jarhead and earn the coveted Eagle, Globe, and Anchor.…

I have a strong desire to become an officer in the United States Navy. To achieve this goal I wish to be accepted into Officer Candidate School where I will later graduate with a commission as an Ensign. I believe myself to be of both strong mind and body, and I accredit this to my commitment to my school, my work, and my training. I graduated top ten percent of my class in High School and Magna Cum Laude in college and I continually try to increase the diversity of my knowledge so to become a better rounded person. I majored in Criminology and Criminal Justice and minored in Psychology, so through convention teaching methods I have gained a firm grip in the Social Sciences; however, its through my work experience that I have really grown.…

The U.S Coast Guard is one of the fifth branches of the United States Military, and most people haven't a clue what they do. A couple of years ago, if someone would have asked me ‘what is the Coast Guard and what do they do’, I too would have no idea what to answer. Over the past few years, there is a family that I have grown very close with and the Coast Guard has played a huge part in their lives. The father was in the Coast Guard for 29 years and retired as a captain. Over those 29 years, the family moved about every 3 years all over the country.…

I’ve had many positive experiences in my life, but my experience joining the Air Force and completing Basic Training had the greatest impact. I did not take high school seriously, because I signed to join the Air Force in my junior year of high school. Since I knew where I was going, I did not feel the need to apply myself in all my classes. I did just enough to graduate high school. Then September came, the month I left to Basic Military Training.…

One of the reasons I would be honored to be a student ambassador is because I want to introduce and familiarize other prospective students with the school that I love so much, that has opened so many doors of opportunities, introduced me to so many amazing people, and has given me a top notch education. I want to encourage students who are perhaps unsure if WSU is right for them, or if college in general is right for them, that WSU and all that it has to offer makes it the place for anyone, from all backgrounds, all experiences, and all areas of interests. This is because WSU also offers majors, clubs and organizations, and communities in which anyone can find a sense of belonging and acceptance. Aside from the school itself, WSU is home to…
