I approached her and asked if I could sit and talk with her, she nodded. I introduced myself as Amy, a student nurse from SIUE, and asked her name. I proceeded to ask her a few questions and I found out a lot about her in a short time. The patient is 21, did not graduate from high school (kicked out for bad grades), In the air force, lives on Scott Air Force Base, currently in training for aircraft control operator, been living in the area since November 2016, has no friends or family here, was admitted the evening before. One thing that sticks out to me that I could have stated differently was when I asked her about school. I assumed she made good grades because of the type of training that she currently attends. I know next time to just simply ask if attending school, rather than speaking out (assuming) she must make good grades considering the position she is in training for. I did explain to her that I just assumed because I knew that when other people I knew took the tests to enter the military, they were placed into areas of work by what level they received on test. I knew that the aircraft controller position was a higher up position. I did not ask her any personal questions, so I was unable to determine what and why she came into the facility, but after the patient and I started talking, I was wondering why she was even
