Essay On Clinical Affiliationtion

Today completes week six at my clinical affiliation. With only two weeks remaining I am already preparing a study plan for the PTA exam that I am hoping to take in July. In regards to how this week went it had its ups and downs. I was given more freedom from my CI to guide therapy sessions, calculate minutes, and document I had several patients that were unwilling to be treated. I had to learn quickly on the fly how to manage this type of situation.
I continue to mentally deal with watching several of the patients I have treating since I commenced this clinical affiliation pack their bags to go home. This also occurred last week so I am beginning to realize the importance of our job is to get patients back to a functional life style so they

This week in field was not too busy, but was busy enough to allow me to experience and complete new tasks. Although the tasks completed this week were not very challenging, they allowed me to come in contact with some of the competency skills. Competency skill 9 was re-introduced from last week. I was to report to the Arthurtown site and intern under the supervision of Ms. Julia. Ms. Julia had me continue to sort through employee files; looking for forms any of the teachers may have been missing or needed to update.…

When I started working as a CAN, as well as volunteering in the health care field, I understood that the work involved included helping residents in activities of daily living. What I found out after I started working was how much of an impact the job makes on people. When I was volunteering to help a woman go grocery shopping I did not think much of it. However, when I came into her home and started putting her groceries away she started tearing up. I found out that she and her husband used to always go grocery shopping together and would later play a game that involved putting the groceries away.…

Through my involvement at the UCSD Student-Run Free Clinic and at FSA Community Program I learned to work in a team and to always share the same goal as my teammates. This common goal is to give the best and most accurate service to the patient at the clinic, the same goal was shared during my time at FSA. These teamwork experiences have also taught me to provide, accept and use feedback from the members of my group, and to always adapt, improve and develop new skills. Through these three activities, I was able to reinforce my reliability and resilience. By volunteering at a hospital and clinic, I was able to meet different types of patients with very different backgrounds and cultures, which allowed me to reinforce my cultural competence,…

As most of you know I recently went from being a psychiatric nurse at a youth residential center to a long-term care/ skilled care facility. As a psychiatric nurse of ten years, I was excited about the much-needed change. I was hired in as an assistant nurse manager and received one week of training and I was on my own. I was very anxious, to say the least, my first weekend flying solo, yet I was excited about the challenge. This weekend experience was the first thing that came to my mind for this discussion board for effectively managing a rapidly changing situation.…

When entering the United States health care system the tendency to pressure patients into masking suffering comes from to two main sources- health care professionals and family members of the patient. It is difficult for health care professionals to avoid emotional investment surrounding their success of their work, like any other occupation. Family members, contribute to this pressure, because there is escalating emotional investment in the outcome of the treatment. When these are established for a lengthy amount of time, they turn into societal rules that are rarely violated, no matter how detrimental they are. The expectation for notions of positive outlooks and ‘normal’ behavior are exhaustive for an individual who is either sick or recovering…

Today, everything went great! I am so excited about the things I've gotten to do today! First thing this morning, I got to do a blood draw, then I went in to the insurance and billing office to begin making calls to insurance companies to check patients benefits for global maternity. Afterwards, I followed an interpreter, nurse practitioner, and an LPN to exam rooms to listen in on communication skills and cultural needs between each patient and employees. The communication from nurse practitioner, to LPN, to patient was very smooth, helpful, and served the patient's needs to the fullest.…
