In a recent controversy, Yale students protested against faculty members for an offensive email. The problem is that a faculty member sent out an email in response to a warning that students should not dress in “culturally unaware and insensitive” costumes. However, the head of a residential dorm, Erika Christakis replied to the message by stating that “students should be able to wear whatever they want, even if they end up offending people.” This is very controversial because by stating her opinion on this topic, to the minorities of Yale University it looks as if Christakis is supporting racial harassment.
