Chinese Acupuncture
Introduction
Acupuncture is a form of traditional alternative Chinese medicine. It is administered in form of needles inserted in the various acupuncture points in the human body. It mainly used by the Chinese people for pain relief (Abbate, 2004). Clinical practices on the use of Chinese acupuncture is common in various countries. System reviews and variety of researches have been carried on the Chinese traditional medicine. However, the results from the findings have never been explicitly conclusive. A number of sources give information on the safety of Chinese Acupuncture. Additionally, a great percentage of such sources say that Chinese Acupuncture is safe and has minimal defects. It emerged in China. The first treatment and documentation of acupuncture were done in 100 BC. There are various historical and archeological evidence of acupuncture. Archeological evidence, for instance, is that golden and silver needleless were found in the tomb of Liu Sheng around 100 BC (Donatelle, 2009). Acupuncture was done at various designated points on the human body. Essentially, acupuncture started a long time ago and had spread to Europe and other parts of the world. Surprisingly, it was done during the Neolithic era near Stone Age (Abbate, 2004). Over this time, they used sharp stones referred to as ‘plen’ and stone probes. Stones were also used for bloodletting. There was an ancient belief in China that diseases were caused by demons and evil spirits. Therefore, blood was used for cleansing in the practice of bloodletting. Primarily, bloodletting was an antecedent to Chinese acupuncture. According to Abbate (2004), substantial evidence depicts that dependable and acknowledged acupuncture dates back in 600 BC.
