They think that it is a waste of money and too many people are using it that don’t technically need it, which may be true. However, putting millions of children’s lives at stake because of a few bad apples seems a bit extreme. Our president, Donald Trump has proposed a cut in the SNAP funding. According to Newsweek, “In his 2019 budget, the president proposed trimming food stamps by $213 billion, or 30 percent…” (Goodkind para 4). SNAP is low-funded as it is, and this will result in many families losing the benefits they need to provide for their children. If you believe that these programs are a waste of money, then you are entitled to that opinion. If you believe that these programs, especially SNAP, are more beneficial than detrimental then I encourage you to vote and tell your peers to vote. It is the most effective way to ensure that assistance programs like SNAP, WIC, and the NSLP are kept up to date and
