Children are starving in Africa. Children are starving in Asia. Children are starving in the middle east. Children are starving in South America. These all sound very familiar, but what you are probably not used to hearing is: Children are starving in the United States of America. Many of you may have always believed that there are no way children are food insecure in America, but in all reality, there may be a child who lives down the street from you that is going hungry every night. As humans, we are so focused on ourselves and our family that we easily forget about the people in our own backyard who need help from others. It is time that we, as a society, start to come together to end child hunger in America. Food insecurity in children is a complicated problem, which will take many different solutions to help solve, but with everyone working together we can end child hunger in America and hopefully the world.

They think that it is a waste of money and too many people are using it that don’t technically need it, which may be true. However, putting millions of children’s lives at stake because of a few bad apples seems a bit extreme. Our president, Donald Trump has proposed a cut in the SNAP funding. According to Newsweek, “In his 2019 budget, the president proposed trimming food stamps by $213 billion, or 30 percent…” (Goodkind para 4). SNAP is low-funded as it is, and this will result in many families losing the benefits they need to provide for their children. If you believe that these programs are a waste of money, then you are entitled to that opinion. If you believe that these programs, especially SNAP, are more beneficial than detrimental then I encourage you to vote and tell your peers to vote. It is the most effective way to ensure that assistance programs like SNAP, WIC, and the NSLP are kept up to date and
