Jon Sarkin is a man who had parts of his brain cut out to stop the loud ringing in his ears. The operation was a success, but it also turned him into a great artist (http://www.cracked.com). This situation was similar to what happened to Charlie Gordon in “Flowers for Algernon”, but Charlie’s talent was he's super intelligence and Charlie’s special talent doesn’t last. Charlie Gordon, before his surgery, was not so smart and saw the world differently than others, but when he had the surgery, not only did his I.Q triple in a short amount of time, he also saw his life from a new point of view. I think that Charlie was better after the operation.
Charlie’s life before the operation was not very good. He’s wasn’t smart and was treated very poorly. When he was taking the Rorschach test, he couldn’t see anything from the inkblots. His coworkers always made fun of him and when ever someone did something stupid, people would say ”you pulled a Charlie Gordon”(pg. 227). Algernon kept on beating Charlie,

He retook the rorschach test and passed it on the second attempt, could beat Algernon at the maze, and was taking college level classes. His I.Q. level was 200+, helped his workplace be more productive, and his grammar/spelling/sentences/reading improved be a lot. He also started having feelings for Miss Kinnian and his coworkers became nicer to Charlie. He became more motivated to fixes his mistakes and became smarter than everyone (including the doctors). “You’re coming along fast, Charlie.” (page 230)
Charlie was better after the surgery. Before Charlie’s surgery, he was not smart and was oblivious to how people treated him. After Charlie’s surgery, he became smart and saw the world completely different. He’s I.Q. tripled and was smarter than most people. He saw how he was treated. He made a new, true, friend, Algernon. He was able to experience what it was like to be smarter than the average
