A. PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CHILD:
1. Annie was approximately 3 ½ feet and came up to my waist. Annie was within the normal height range.
2. She seemed to be of similar weight to other children in her “class” or age group. She was not chunky or bony, but slim with normal, symmetrical body features.
3. A unique physical characteristic that I could use to describe Annie as a preschooler is her ability to write her name at a young age. Secondly, I could also identify Annie as a preschooler by the type of play she associates herself with.
4. Annie seemed to be a very well developing, healthy child. She was very active and full of energy. She was constantly running around and interacting with other children. LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION BEHAVIORS
1. Annie was very, very talkative during my visit to the WVU Nursery School. She asked many questions during her “crafting” time and spoke her feelings. For instance, her friend was not sharing her crayons with her and Annie spoke out to her and said, “You are not being very nice. You need to learn to share.” This was an example of how Annie expressed her emotions. I also learned very fast that she had some knowledge of a second language. She spoke a little bit of Spanish to her instructor.
2. Although, Annie did not particularly speak to me, as I observed her speaking to her friends and other individuals she was comfortable around, I noticed that she spoke very clearly. I would definitely rate her articulation as a 5. Compared to the other children at the facility, Annie had very clear and coherent language development.
3. Annie would speak in sentences of medium length. They were not short but they were not well-thought out paragraphs either. Her ability to communicate was very strong compared to the other
