Throughout history to present day, religion has and still plays a role in our society and multiple cultures. Different religions in different cultures have developed their own sets of customs that have been practiced ‘till this day. Cultures use different types of symbols that represent their beliefs. Some cultures use statues and pictures to express their beliefs in their homes. Others like to wear necklaces and bracelets that have different symbols like a cross, the Star of David, saints and other religious symbols. In Egyptian religion, they used scarabs to symbolize their sun god, Khepri. They had different styles of scarabs that people would use and wear. As of today, in the catholic religion people have different rosaries that symbolize Mother Mary and Jesus. A popular object in this religion is the rosary necklace, which is a string of beads with a crucifix that hangs from the middle of it. The rosary is used as a catholic prayer, which is based upon biblical events from the life of Jesus and Mary. A lot of people use the rosary either as an amulet, to pray at funerals or the birthday of the Virgin Mary. There are different kinds of rosaries; the most common one is the five-decade rosary. It has a crucifix, short set of 5 beads, with a rosary at the center, followed by a loop of ten beads. Each bead is used to pray Our Father, Hail Marys, and a Glory Be. Another rosary is the Chaplet of the Seven Sorrows of Mary, where it consists seven sets of seven beads. In this rosary, the prophecy of Simeon is being represented with a picture in every set of beads.
