Career Goals of a 46-Year-Old Man I have always questioned myself on what is the main goal or purpose of my existence. Since graduation day in 1989, the choices for me to attend college were cut short for financial reason and I entered the workforce with no regrets. The years have passed by and I have a family that I am proud of and a job that provides for our every need, but does the job fit into my career goal? I have often asked that question on numerous occasions and ultimately concluded the same answer. Furthermore, I concluded that I thoroughly enjoy my job as a Sales and Marketing Consultant, but there has always been some sort of emptiness in how I perceive my life goals. The conversations with my family led me to the decision to return to college after a long thirty-year break to finally receive a degree that has long awaited me. That conversation led me to research several options, such as, Computer Science, IT Professional, and even some type of tech school degree. I eventually came to the conclusion of a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. The conclusion of which route I chose for my degree gave me a basis to go on and even consider future growth within the company as a degree can ultimately help me gain a position as a Senior Sales Manager. As a family, we spent countless hours of research on where I would attend college as well as what degree I truly wanted to receive. The choice of which school was an exhausting task and could have been considered impossible. My work schedule always seemed to interfere with several choices that I thought would work. I, eventually, came to the conclusion of attending Georgia Military College-Online Campus because of the availability of classes that would not interfere with my work schedule. GMC also had the best cost value for my family, since I have two children in college as well, but didn’t want my goals to interfere with their goals in life. Now we have the location of my future, what was the next process? I had to choose the best degree choice that would fit into my future plans, since they are shorter now than they were in 1989.
